Marc by Marc Jacobs' wedge boots cost $350 but when you consider the fact that you're getting 4 shoe trends (menswear-inspired, lace-up ankle boots, wedges and desert boots) in one perfect shoe, the price seems almost reasonable! See if you can spot the designer pair, then click on either image to check your guess.
At the Ivy in Beverly Hills, Katherine Heigl wore jeans and a Juicy Couture cardigan which she jazzed up with a Valentino red bag and Tory Burch leopard flats. Copy her classic casual look with affordable finds from Target, Old Navy, DSW and more.

H&M announced that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Can't argue with the press release there! Designed by Lanvin's artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.Once again, can't argue with that!
“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.
I might have to save up and splurge on some pieces from this collab—so much potential!
While Shakira’s global hit “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” has become the best-selling World Cup song in history, she’s obviously not resting on her laurels – the pop diva is set to release her new single “Loca” in Spanish and English.

Recently I was inspired to recreate Kate Moss' leather pants and leopard look using items found entirely at Target. Incidentally I did not magically inherit Ms. Moss' dashing good looks in the process but I had fun with the clothes and it's totally something I would wear for a day of shopping, running errands or attending meetings in the city. Budget breakdown below!
Shirt: Merona for Target Menswear Shirt, $19.99 Tee: Mossimo V-Neck tee, sale $10.48 Bag: Gia Milani Leopard Satchel, $34.99 Shoes: Dolce Vita for Target Buckle Ankle Boots, sale $27.99 Pants: Mossimo Faux Leather Legging, $29.99
I made the trek to Target #2 this morning in hopes of finding their newly launched Temple St. Clair jewelry collection and this time, I was successful. Well, somewhat successful…I actually had to ask a sales clerk at the jewelry counter if they had the collection, at which point she was kind enough to pull out the box for me containing all the jewelry for me to browse under her watchful gaze. Hence, no photos, save for the heart stone ring which I purchased for $30. Everything looked absolutely lovely in person—rings, necklaces and earrings ranging from $29.99 to $49.99—but I still have a hard time justifying spending $50 on anything let alone a necklace from Tar-jay. Nonetheless I'm really pleased with my purchase and I just hope it stays looking this shiny and pretty for a while.
Have you seen the collection in person? What did you buy?

Brian Atwood today announced that he will collaborate with Jones Apparel Group to create B Brian Atwood, a new footwear and accessory line that will be the contemporary counterpart to Brian Atwood's high-end, luxury shoe business.
B Brian Atwood will be sold in better department stores and specialty retailers beginning in fall 2011, followed by the launches of B Brian Atwood handbags and jewelry slated for 2012. Footwear under the B Brian Atwood brand will retail for $200 to $400 for core items and up to $600 for boots.
I was excited when I first heard the news—Atwood is a celebrity fave and his stunning creations are seen all over the red carpet—but the price range is still out of reach. For me, at least. Oh well!
Despite it's $695 pricetag, Loeffler Randall's 'Matilde' boot sells out every season. I have a feeling the look for less will sell out, too, since it offers the same style and comfort for $550 less. See if you can spot the real vs. the steal, then click on either image to check your guess!
I went to Target today in hopes of finding some Temple St. Clair jewelry—which they didn't have—but I did find some cool Chan Luu inspired bead bracelets (actually there are many designers making these stackable, leather wrap bead bracelets but Chan Luu is probably the most well-known of the bunch at the moment, having recently collaborated with Banana Republic on a limited-edition line). I found an assortment of colors and styles, each for $7.99. My favorite was a dark purple silk-look chord with gold-tone beads. Best part is that the closure features an easy-to-adjust slip knot so you can customize the fit to suit your wrist. Brilliant! Browse Chan Luu bracelets below for reference.
Chanel expects grey to be the big makeup trend of the season. They have grey nail polish and eye shadow waiting to hit shelves this fall.

I stopped by Kohl's the other day to check out the early fall offerings from the LC Lauren Conrad collection after loving the Fall lookbook photos. I saw a bunch of summer items on clearance, lots of flower embellished tees, and a few solid fall pieces including a pleather motorcycle jacket, gray jersey blazer and black slim-fit pants. My sister bought a gray t-shirt with a parrot tulip design. I didn't buy anything on this trip but I'll be back for the bomber, it's cute but not the most practical piece as I doubt it provides any real warmth. For your reference, keep scrolling to see how the size 4 blazer fit me (reg. $60, it was on sale for $41.99) as well as the size S bomber (reg. $72, sale $49.99). Have you purchased any fall clothes yet?
Still fitting in that last minute summer getaway? A last minute uber glam invite? Rather than splurging on an outfit, how about renting for a fraction of the price.

Whenever I shop with my mom and sister we inevitably end up at Bloomingdale's, an upscale department store that's not cheap by any means and yet, as my dear family has proven time and time again, deals can be found anywhere if you've got skills. During this trip my sister led me to the clearance racks where I found a Michael Stars striped tee marked down from $70ish to $20; my mom then presented me with a coupon for an additional 20% off. Go Mom. With my prize in hand, I then proceeded to scope out all the fall trends for inspiration: Key pieces include cargo pants, utility jackets, leopard print, chunky knits, faux fur, combat boots, leggings, booties, and stripes. Suddenly, the arrival of fall doesn't seem like such a bad thing…
Handbag aficionados should have no trouble spotting the Proenza Schouler PS1 satchel from the two options below (it's $1,595 at net-a-porter.com, in case you're interested). The other bag is made of humble PVC but I think it's a great option for work or school at just $36.90. Fake it til you make it, baby.

Last month, Pantene launched four new collections based on four unique hair structures: Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions, Pantene Pro-V Medium-Thick Hair Solutions, Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Series and Pantene Pro-V Color Hair Solutions. The company says that after five years of research, 1 million ingredient combinations, and worldwide testing among 20,000 women, the New Pantene series is a "complete reinvention," boasting an upgraded ingredient list, tailored systems, new packaging and new fragrance.
Mind you, Pantene has been my old standby for years, so I was little wary about the changes (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) but of course I was curious to see the results for myself.
I received free samples of NEW Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions Flat to Volume Shampoo (retail $3.99) and NEW Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions Flat to Volume Conditioner (retail $3.99). I made my selections after completing Pantene's Personal Hair Consultation tool that will help identify your structure and suggest products to work with your unique hair needs. Fancy!
I've been using it every couple days for the past couple weeks and here's how it went:
One of these plastic bead necklaces costs 5 times as much as the other. Examine them carefully: Does one "look" more expensive than the other? How can you tell? I think I'd be willing to buy the more expensive necklace if it were A) vintage B) real gemstones, or C) handmade by an artist. However, none of these things are true, so I'd opt for the more affordable find (I think it's prettier, too!). Ready to check your guess? Click on either image for the answer.

I finally managed to visit a big Forever 21 store in an upscale mall to check out the Love 21 line, which is Forever 21's sorta grown-up contemporary line for young women in their 20s and 30s. Dare I say Shopbop on a budget? Cuts are supposed to be more modest and silhouettes more sophisticated so you can wear this stuff to the office, then out with the hubby or boyf. I spotted a stylish 40-something as well as several mature tweens browsing the section with equal levels of enthusiasm. I liked a lot of what I saw, Rebecca Taylor-ish dresses, BCBG-ish tops, even a Nanette Lepore-ish green blazer. Unfortunately I didn't have time to try anything on, but the sizing definitely seems to be more misses than juniors as I eyeballed items on the rack. Lots of potential here for mixing and matching Love 21 with quality basics purchased elsewhere…maybe a designer bag, some nice shoes, and you've got yourself covered. Anyone a devoted Love 21 fan?
New Balance has teamed up with DSW for a special sneaker collab, the New Balance for DSW Collection. Priced around $59.95 per pair, these stylish sneaks feature a lightweight upper, a TPU banding detail in the forefoot for "flair" and a translucent polished sole unit that "adds a glossy pop." It's now available at DSW stores and online at DSW.com. I wonder if this means more collabs are in store for DSW, although I'm kinda collab-ed out at present. LOL.
Earlier I shared the Macy's Ready-to-Wear Fall 2010 Collection Lookbook, now here's a look at the Young Contemporary lookbook highlighting three main trends: Back-to-School, Smoke & Mirrors and State of Play. Let me explain: Back to school means texture and functional details that reference outdoor utility dressing with lots of layering and rich fall colors of burnt ochre, chestnut brown, deep purple and midnight blue. Smoke & Mirrors translates to a darkly glamorous yet moody aesthetic featuring feminine elements paired with strong tailored pieces, instilling a vintage inspired mood with tones of dusty pink, slate blue, ash grey and mustard yellow. Finally, State of Play evokes folk and native patterns with a modern edge. Oversized garments and bright hues take on an active aesthetic, while matte and shiny sequin stripes look fresh for the upcoming season. I can't wait to see more from the Jessica Simpson clothing line (no shame!) but I can't help but wonder, where are all the jackets and sweaters?!
L.A.M.B.'s 'Devin' cage buckle heels are on sale for $159.99 (reg. $325) at piperlime.com. They are also on sale in grey and natural for $162 now at ideeli (limited time only).
Kate Moss rocks an all black ensemble punctuated by a bold leopard print Longchamp bag and blue button down shirt. Get her look for less with fashionable bargains from Gap, Alloy, Target and more.
[1] Shirt - Tab-collar shirt, sale $17.99, gap.com [2] Tee - Short Sleeve Tissue Tee, $7.50, charlotterusse.com [3] Bag - Leopard Print Holdall, $80, topshop.com [4] Pants - Studded Stretch Leather Skinny, $40, alloy.com [5] Shoes - Dolce Vita for Target Buckle Ankle boots, $34.99, target.com
I'd never suggest that a pair of cheap synthetic ballet flats can rival the comfort and value of leather Cole Haan shoes featuring Nike Air technology, but just for fun, see if you can spot the real from the steal below. And you gotta admit, the cheap ones are still super cute. Click on either image to check your guess!
Most of us know and love Mackage for their glorious coats that they put out every season (especially their leathers) which always top every ‘It’ girls wish list. This fall the two Canadian designers Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy’s put out their first full ready-to-wear collection.

For Fall 2010, the Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl's collection plays to its signature strengths of texture, color and modern proportions. Pleats, sequined panels and ruffles add flare to tops, jackets and dresses. Rich, jewel-toned hues are incorporated in printed, patterned and solid treatments on feminine fabrics and embellished detailing. Think reds, greens, grays, purples and blues for a warm and inspiring palette. Key pieces include the traditional cardigan with an artful twist—such as military-inspired, open-front or cropped—worn buttoned, belted, wrapped or layered for an updated look. Accessories are all about the modern glamour of a jeweled necklace, a sequined scarf or studded satchel. Highlights for me include a paneled sequin top ($48), motorcycle jacket ($78) and padgett over-the-knee boots ($109.99). You can find these pieces now with more being released in September at Kohl's stores and online at Kohls.com.
I’m pretty sure I have solidly jumped on every summer trend this season, from denim on denim, to drop crotch pants, and now hopped on the “off the shoulder look” bandwagon. This is a MUST summer look – casual and relaxed, yet subtly sexy.
And a breeze to incorporate into your current summer rotation.
Whether channeling the [...]

For Fall 2010, Macy's is celebrating the season with four main trends: Brick, Down to Earth, Metropolis, Caravan and Knit Picks. Roughly translated, we can look forward to a color palette of autumnal hues, menswear-inspired fabrics, minimalist glamour, eclectic vintage-inspired pieces and modern sweater knits. The must-have pieces to get the look? Something pleather, statement jackets, faux fur, novelty sweaters, lace trim, feminine blouses, slouchy trousers, slim pants, utility everything and lots of leggings! I'll let the clothes do the talking. I'm loving the juxtaposition of soft and edgy (nothing new, but well done by Kensie and BCBGeneration), the ghillie tie ankle boots and the cargo jacket. Take notes, people!
The Temple St. Clair for Target lookbook has been released, sorry I'm just posting it now, been crazy busy visiting with friends and family and working during breaks on the go! This collection features 14K gold-plated necklaces, cuffs, rings, and charms inspired by Renaissance Italy. Ethereal blues, blood reds and clear white gemstones showcase the designer's love of color while whimsically wrought settings in gold look modern yet opulent. Pieces are priced from just $30 to $50 and will be available at Target stores and online at Target.com from August 29th through December 28th. I can see myself wearing the Gold Wide-Band Ring in Blue/Green ($30), Gold Necklace With Pear Drop Stones in Yellow ($50) and Gold Charm Bracelet ($40). Also wondering what happened to the heart ring that Lucky Mag previewed a while back. Which pieces in this limited-edition collection catch your eye?

The 'Ella Shirt' is supercute, but $88 is still a lot to drop for one tee. Here are 6 more affordable striped pocket tops under $50. The J. Crew option is looking mighty good for fall.
Below are two stylish pairs of studded loafers. One costs around $100, the other costs 10 times as much! See if you can guess which is which, then click on either image to get the answer.
Just in time for back to school, here's the Olsenboye for JCPenney fall 2010 lookbook, featuring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's affordable line of tops, skirts, dresses, jackets, denim, shoes, & accessories available now through October. This season, the designing sisters got their inspiration from the city of London, expressed through not-so-subtle Union Jack motifs, graffiti tees, grungy plaid and rocker studs. At first glance I can't say I was impressed but this juniors line definitely has its thoughtful moments. The styles are classy and cute with just a hint of teenage rebellion. I like the tweed jacket ($29.99) paired with a graffiti tee ($14.99), ponte blazer ($29.99) and plaid bag. Any takers?
If you're a fan of designer Geren Ford but can't afford her higher-priced collection, then you'll love HAWKS, her affordable line sold at Urban Outfitters. For fall 2010, keep an eye out for cocktail party attire that's simple, chic and modern.
If you wrote off the Isabel Toledo for Payless Fall 2010 collection after seeing my earlier post showcasing the first 4 styles that cropped up on the Payless website, you may want to take another look: Three more shoe styles have been added to the eccentric cast of characters and they are oddly wonderful. There's a dramatic Toreador Pump ($44.99), loveable Belted Poodle Boot ($59.99) and clunky sliver bootie ($54.99). Yes, they are weird (the poodle boot looks like it might have to be house-trained and taken out for walks) but I think they are also rather smart. A few readers have said they look good in person, too, I hope to check them out soon. Is the collection growing on you?
Eva Mendes looks gorgeous in a floral Madewell dress, tan wedge sandals and Dior Libertine Hobo. I couldn't find her exact dress online but you can still recreate her look for less with similar pieces from Modcloth, Mimi Boutique and more. Details below!

One of these striped tops costs 7 times more than the other. Can you tell which one? Here's a clue: The designer top is Vivienne Westwood RED Label and costs $440. See if you can guess, then click on either image to check your answer!

Here's a question posted by reader Michelle in the forums:
"My friend is getting married (2nd marriage) and they're are having it in their backyard. I know it's going to be very casual, so I don't want to be overdressed or underdressed. Any outfit ideas? We're in Florida, so it's hot! Thanks!!"
I suggest a fun day dress and wedges or embellished flats (heels will sink into grass). Casual doesn't have to be boring! Dress up, it'll make the wedding more fun, festive and stylish.
Here are three affordable outfit ideas for a backyard wedding to help you get inspired, click on any item for details:
One of these necklaces costs twice as much as the other. Can you guess which one? I'll give you a hint: One necklace was created for J.Crew by Dana Lorenz, designer of NYC-based FENTON and FALLON. The other is from a popular mall store. Scroll down to examine both, then click either image to find out!
With daughter Honor in tow, Jessica Alba stays stylish in a flyaway cardigan and cargo pants accessorized with a bold necklace, simple sandals and canvas tote. Get her look on a dime with cheap-chic fashion finds from Fred Flare, Amazon, Macy's and more.

Last week we found a great look-for-less for the Chloe 'Marcie' Bag called the 'Andreana' at a chic online shop called Mimi Boutique, and now, Mimi Boutique wants to give one lucky Budget Babe reader the chance to win her very own version of this bag in grey! (Retail $56) If you want to purchase one of your own, this bag will soon be restocked in dark chocolate (it's a big seller, so I've heard) and will also be made available in black and beige later this week -- so keep checking their site.

It’s good have friends in high places. Like, being friends with the heiress of Missoni Family, Margherita.
Yes, the twenty-seven year old has taken the role of accessories designer at the House of Missoni and launched the first collection of handbags, and they’re all named after her besties. Sweet.

Here's a great round-up of the fashion trends that we can expect to see at H&M for Fall/Winter 2010 featuring interviews with Ann-Sofie Johansson Head of Design at H&M, Hannah Teare from Tatler Magazine and blogger Susie Bubble (who has the loveliest voice, btw, I could listen to her all day!). For fall, we will see the "Casual Chic" look, with plenty of accessories and influences from the late 70s, early 80s, and even a little bit of the 90s. You'll find a broad variety of inspirations, ranging from the tailored style with uniform details, trench coats and parkas, to a more romantic style with cut-outs and patterns. Camel, black, wine red, green and other natural colors dominate the palette. The garments are made in both luxury materials such as silk and fake fur, as well as more comfy knitwear materials with a nice autumnal feeling. Let the layering begin!
