 Here's the ZARA Spring Summer 2012 press catalog, which gives us a taste of some of spring's top runway-to-real-way trends. Some of the trends I can get behind include mint green, sheer fabrics (layered, of course) and floral prints. Some of the trends I can not: Thigh-high slits and mesh.  Designer Doo-Ri Chung has designed a collection for Macy's Impulse, and while it won't be available for purchase until February 15th, you can preview the line now at macys.com and vote for your favorite looks. Currently, a geometric printed draped wrap dress, floor-length pleated maxi dress and painterly brushstroke coat are among the items in the lead, and I'm inclined to agree with shoppers that these are some of the best pieces in the capsule. Priced on average from $39-$159, the collection will feature soft fabrics, art inspired prints and feminine silhouettes, all grounded in blues and greys with red, black and orange infused throughout.  Yesterday LOFT held their summer press preview in New York City amidst tropical flowers and fruity drinks, the perfect compliment to the collection's beach-resort vibe. Brights like turquoise, hot pink, yellow and lime green dominated the vibrant palette, balanced by plenty of crisp clean whites and soothing neutrals. Everything was about ease and warm breezes, from flowy maxi dresses to ikat-print shorts and lightweight tops. Accessories like striped beach totes, raffia clutches, espadrille sandals and stackable thread-wrapped bangles proved to be the perfect finishing touches for this cabana-inspired collection.  Sam Edelman shoes has teamed up with American Eagle Outfitters for a (mostly) exclusive line of sandals and flats just in time for spring. Priced between $40 and $60, the collection included t-strap thongs, metallic gladiators, pretty ballet flats and ankle-strap wedges that look like Swedish Hasbeens. On the plus side, it's good to see a stylish selection of affordable shoes at AEO, but on the negative side, I can't really see anything that distinguishes these shoes as "Sam Edelman," which I've always felt was a brand known for having wearable shoes with a twist, something unique or quirky that made them stand out. You might just be better off buying American Eagle's no-name shoes which are priced, on average, about $10 less than those in the Sam Edelman collab. Shop it online: Read the full article...  Watch out Birchbox, there's a new beauty sample group on the block. It's called Sample Society, and it was created by Beauty Bar and Allure magazine. For $15 a month, Sample Society members will receive 5 deluxe-size samples from premium brands, monthly beauty news from Allure editors and a $15 gift code that can be used toward the purchase of any product from the featured brands received that month. As a final bonus, members receive a one-year subscription to Allure. If I was a beauty blogger, I'd be all over this. But as it is, I can barely get through a tube of mascara let alone five beauty samples each month. I just don't use that much product (blasphemy, I know). But that's just me. In comparison, Birchbox is $10 a month for 4-5 samples and I have heard only good things from my Twitter buddies. I do love the idea of getting a lovely package each month in the mail with exciting new samples that are big enough for you to actually test, so I'll admit it's tempting.  Free People's February catalog is here, and this month it stars none other than the fiercely beautiful Freja Beha Erichsen. I love her name, it has such a nice ring to it. For the book's concept, Freja takes on each of the brand's imaginary "girl types": Candy, Meadow, Ginger, Lou, and Molly – who is now being introduced to the public for the very first time. The fashion changes with each girl, from Lou's graphic tees and sporty touches, to Candy's polar opposite frilly and flirty dresses.  Fashionista is reporting that the first Marni for H&M ad campaign photo has been leaked on The Fashion Spot, building upon earlier excitement created by the campaign announcement video and photos.  Naturally I headed to TFS to see the ad and noticed another forum member had posted what appears to be a second ad campaign image. The first image gives us a glimpse at a blouse modeled by Imogen Poots for 69.95 euros and the second ad shows a polka-dot dress for 59.95 euros. Both items have me yearning to see more.  One of the pieces that caught my eye in the February issue of People StyleWatch was a vibrant orange leather skirt by a new-to-me brand called Helios & Luna by Patricia Clyne. So when I received this sneak peek of the designer's Fall 2012 presentation, I was instantly intrigued. Here's a quote from the designer about her inspiration for the collection which will be shown next week during New York Fashion Week: "This season I went to an art gallery for my inspiration for the new Helios & Luna Collection for Fall 2012. I became obsessed by the paintings of British conceptual modern artist Martin Creed. His graphic bold strokes and colors reflect the spirit of the woman the collection is deigned for."  Spring has sprung at Old Navy, with new knits in a bevy of bright colors, lightweight sundresses, sandals and yes, even shorts. I'm so not ready for this (and I won't be able to wear these pieces for another 3 months at least). But if you're planning a winter getaway or you live somewhere warm, you're in for a treat. I was getting a Diane von Furstenberg vibe with a lot of the new printed pieces, from tribal to artsy florals. A geometric print faux-wrap dress stood out. Also loving the brightly colored neon-neutral flats and mini crossbody bags, great for everyday. Colorblocking is another returning trend, which looked chic on leather-look tote bags. And if you aren't in the mood for spring clothes just yet, there's colored denim and chunky sweaters still in stock, even some winter coats left on clearance. What catches your eye?  Glee star Lea Michele is the new face of Candie's, a juniors fashion line sold exclusively at Kohl's. Lea joins the ranks of past Candie's luminaries such as Britney Spears and Vanessa Hudgens. The campaign shows Lea flirting with the camera in girly dresses and sky-high heels, lounging poolside, whipping up a batch of pink cupcakes and playing dress-up. I think she's a perfect fit for the brand and actually manages to class things up a bit. The photos are still provocative but I think Lea keeps things fun and lighthearted. Spanish fashion brand MANGO has named Kate Moss the star of its new Spring/Summer 2012 campaign. Previously MANGO has worked with Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Milla Jovovich, and Naomi Campbell. The advertising campaign will feature Kate Moss wearing the latest new Mango Spring/Summer collection photographed by renowned photographer Terry Richardson.  Remember Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose collection for Macy's? If not, allow this post to refresh your memory. While browsing macys.com the other day, I noticed a couple new additions for spring that are totally pin-worthy. The "Bloom" collection for spring features more pretty tabletop items with nature motifs like delicate sketches of insects and birds. Prices range from about $15 for a hummingbird-design plate to $58 for a butterfly adorned basket, but you'll find most pieces are already on sale making this a very reasonably-priced way to add some fun to your kitchen.  Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is just around the corner, and one of my favorite designers sent us this sneak peek sketch of the collection she'll be presenting. Here's a quote about the collection from the designer: For fall 2012, Reese offers an optimistic color palette of vibrant tomato, juniper green and lemon enlivening neutral browns, grays and black. A mixture of fabric, textures and embellishments create dimension on tailored silhouettes, abundant with refined craftsmanship details. Bold pops of fiery tomato orange energize the classic contrast of black and white, as seen on the Black Box Jacquard Pea Jacket with large leather knot button, and Bi-Level Mini, when paired with the Tomato Falling Leaves Ruched Turtleneck and Black Tomato Gold Mixed Media Pump. JCPenney Unveils Plans to Become 'America's Favorite Store'
 This morning JCPenney unveiled its ambitious plans to become "America's Favorite Store" with a new logo image, pricing, and promotion strategy including a partnership with Ellen DeGeneres. I watched the presentation via web conference to get the scoop. "We're not here to improve, we're here to transform" said new JCP president Ron Johnson, who has previously worked his magic for Apple Inc. and Target Corporation. Starting February 1st, you'll begin to see the changes. JCPenney is rolling out a new pricing strategy and return policy called "Fair and Square" to simplify things for shoppers. Hallelujah! They'll be going from 580 promotions in 2011 to just 12 in 2012, accompanied by fresh catalogs and other promotional materials. The merchandise will also be changing. One such change: JCPenney announced it's teaming up with designer Nanette Lepore for a juniors diffusion line called L'Amour by Nanette Lepore. Love her! By August 1st, JCPenney will start rolling out mini "shops" within the store. By 2013, they will launch a new retail concept called Town Square. By 2014, they'll have a whole new prototype for the store and by 2015 every store will be completely transformed. I think these changes will be absolutely amazing for JCPenney shoppers if all goes according to plan. JCPenney was taking baby steps with their designer collabs (like Olsenboye, Nicole Miller and MNG by Mango) but we all know their stores felt stale and antiquated. I hope they overhaul their website, too. It won't be easy but I can't wait to see these changes take effect. How about you?  Fashion designer Nanette Lepore, who is known for her flirty, feminine silhouettes, will translate her runway looks to her first teen-focused line called L'Amour Nanette Lepore exclusively for JCPenney. Inspired by her teenage daughter Violet, L'Amour Nanette Lepore is reminiscent of the American designer's signature style with a youthful twist. The design partnership with Nanette Lepore was announced today in New York City, where JCP unveiled its vision to transform itself into America's favorite store. The L'Amour Nanette Lepore brand will debut as its own distinct shop beginning February 2013, so we'll have to wait a while for this one.  I finally checked out the Kardashian Kollection for Sears last week, which as you probably know is a celebrity clothing line from the Kardashian sisters Khloe, Kim and Kourtney. The collection mirrors the glam lifestyle of these reality-TV stars with sexy cocktail dresses, trendy jumpsuits, boho-chic maxi dresses and bold animal prints. The winter collection was on its way out of my store, relegated to the not-so-clearance racks, while the latest spring line inspired by the sea looked like it had just arrived. This installment was actually pretty cute, with nautical striped tanks, and a tasteful navy, red and white color palette. There was a flowy chevron-striped maxi dress that I wouldn't mind owning. UK Style by French Connection at Sears: Off the Rack
 Yesterday I stopped at Sears to check out the UK Style by French Connection collection, my first time seeing the line in person. The racks were tightly packed with a range of sweaters, knit tops, pants, jeans, as well as a few pairs of shorts, dresses and leggings in a mostly muted palette of neutrals like gray, black, camel, ivory and olive. Considering the woeful store displays and disorganization, the original prices on this collection seem staggeringly high and overpriced. But nearly everything was on clearance, making a $78 sweaterdress seem infinitely more reasonable once marked down to $24.99. I thought the sale prices were great, scooping up a Fair Isle sweater for $12 and leopard jeans for $25 (I tweeted that these were $12 but realized my mistake when I got home. Still not bad!). I don't think this collection will appeal to everyone, but I liked a lot of the pieces, they have that Euro/fashion vibe while still remaining understated and not too trendy. If you can time it so you shop UK Style on sale, I think it's a definite "win" and a must-stop shop for budget babes. What's your experience been with UK Style?  I seriously can't keep up with all the new products coming out from Sally Hansen lately. During my last trip to Walgreens, I spotted new Salon Effects styles for Valentine's Day and spring, as well as their Gem Crush polishes and new Smooth and Perfect pastels. These have been out for a few months now so hopefully somebody can weigh in on the Smooth and Perfect, which claims to "hide ridges with a breathable, porcelain-smooth finish."  Next up from JCPenney, here's the Allen B. by Allen Schwartz spring 2012 lookbook. This line is typically a bit flashier, trendier, more celebrity-influenced and filled with exuberant colors and prints. From off-shoulder tops to chiffon maxi dresses, flared jeans and floppy hats, the line captures a jet-set resortwear vibe. With the exception of the outfit above, I can't say this particular lookbook appeals to my personal style but it's always good to have options when you're shopping the racks at JCPenney. From fashion powerhouses Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, this affordable collection of apparel and accessories (yes, that includes the leopard wedges!) shows adorable sundresses, breezy tops and cute skirts for spring. Inspired by springtime in Paris, the collection features floral prints, seaside stripes and plenty of ruffles. It's available at JCPenney and/or jcp.com now through March.  In stores now, check out the second installment of Josie Natori for Target, offering affordable yet chic lingerie and loungewear for Valentine's Day. This feminine collection showcases Natori's signature East-meets-West aesthetic with kimono silhouettes and Asian-inspired prints. It will be available through Feb. 23, 2012 at most Target stores and target.com, and ranges from $9.99 to $34.99. Last time I looked, the racks at my store were still full so if you want something from the line, there's definitely time to scoop up a piece or two.  Prior to the show, the actress tweeted a picture of her manicure, which features a white background with black detailing to create a mini tux on each finger.  This look is super easy to create, and while it's not something I'd wear everyday - let alone for a special occasion - it's a fun look to try if you're bored!  I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Nail Color in "White On" for the base ($2.99 at Walgreens), then hand painted the design using Sally Hansen's Nail Art Pen in black ($7.99 at Walgreens).
